Each year, we’re fortunate to be joined by bright, passionate student interns from local colleges and universities. These interns take on projects, help lead and develop programs, work closely with participants, and are an integral part of the FamilyWorks team. Alas, we are only a part of their learning journies, and we are now at the bittersweet time of year when we must bid our wonderful interns farewell!
This month, we bid farewell to Rachel, our intern from the University of Washington’s School of Social Work. Whether distributing hygiene supplies at our Family Resource table, connecting with participants to celebrate Black History Month, or working directly with folks on connections and referrals to other resources, Rachel has made a big impact in a short amount of time!
In celebration of her time at FamilyWorks, Rachel recorded a short video of appreciation and a performance of the song “Read All About It” by Emeli Sandé. Rachel chose this song because it’s a “strength-based song… that reminds her of community and how all of us can contribute to community to make it a better and stronger place.”
Watch her inspirational performance below! Thank you for all your hard work over these past 8 months, Rachel!
