Build and own a new Family Resource Center at Cedar Crossing (Opened September 16, 2023!)
In 2019, our Family Resource Center offered programming and support to 640 families. In 2024, we are on track to serve more than 900 families! We can’t meet the needs of these families in our original 1,500 square foot facility in Wallingford. We’ve opened a 3,000 square foot space at Cedar Crossing, a family-focused affordable housing complex, located next to the Roosevelt Light Rail Station in the Roosevelt neighborhood. We are serving 20% more families across the Family Resource Center’s programming since we opened, and plan to purchase this space and invest the lease cost savings into our staff wage equity efforts.
Families entering our new home will find a trusted place where they can ask for help and be embraced by our community with respect and dignity.
Through on-site programs such as playgroups and positive parenting classes, caregivers can not only build relationships and lasting social connections right in their neighborhood, but also find tools to support their children at every stage of development.
"Since we started receiving diapers, we have learned about food assistance, utility assistance, child development resources, and community resources and events. FamilyWorks has paid our rent, fed us, clothed us, and provided a sense of security. For a mom who hasn’t been able to work since having our second child, this service has held us together, allowed us to thrive together. Our kids have had adventures, been given shoes and winter coats, trips to the farmers market and so much more. We would be lost without this support."
