Back-to-School Celebration + Learning Activities & Resources

We love the return of the school year at FamilyWorks! We hosted our 2024 Back-to-School celebration last month and provided 155 kids from 66 families with new backpacks filled with school supplies!

We’re so grateful for our volunteers who spiced up the event with face paint and henna tattoos. Some of our program partners also joined us to connect with families and spread the word about their programs and services. No More Under was here to speak with families about water safety and free swim lessons; Community Health Plan of Washington joined us to talk to folks about Apple Health (Medicaid) and other family health plan options; and a Child Immunization Specialist from Seattle Public Schools met with families to review health records and ensure they know how to update immunizations if needed.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who made this possible! Thank you to Olympia Pizza and Spaghetti House II and Papa Johns for providing food and snacks, and to Salon Ritual and Evergreen Beauty College for providing haircut vouchers for families! And thank you to our supporters who donated school supplies to those who helped us generously donated time and energy to help us organize and prepare for this event, we couldn’t have done it without you!
